held at Medwyn Surgery on September 17, 2025
Present : AMQ, AM, AH, JP, CP, PS, TMCW, OF, JM
Absent: JS, JG
1. Apologies for Absence Jo Sutton, Practice Manager, who was engaged with the CQC assessment.
Jenny Partridge was welcomed onto the committee.
2. Minutes of the Last Meeting These had been circulated. There were no matters arising.
3. Medwyn Surgery Update stats to be held over until next time, owing to Jo’s absence. Adrian and Ann had attended the recent carers’ meeting and had been impressed by the numbers attending and the variety of help on offer from Medwyn and outside organisations.
4.
Colin Peters wondered if Medwyn could set up some sort of regular meeting for the isolated elderly. Organisations called Live Well and the Men’s Shed as well as a monthly coffee morning at Waitrose take place
Adrian had been contacted by an organisation called Luminous. Jenny Partridge illuminated us on its purpose and the organisation it is replacing. "Luminous which is a Community Interest Company which appears to host Healthwatch which is the Customer facing organisation who visit venues in Surrey to hear the public’s comments about GP’s, Hospitals, Social services, They will also do independent surveys (at a price) for hospitals or any health related organisation as a external ear where people tend to be truthful about the level of service offered. I know the Royal Surrey has used them and found the findings really helped them improve the service - still plenty of work to do to keep being Outstanding." Dr Quirk informed the committee that the first tranche of flu jabs had gone out to patients, with more to follow soon. It was hoped that the Covid inoculations for those over 75 and the vulnerable would be available to qualifying groups at the same time.
5. CQC Inspection members of the committee had received an email form to fill in for the above, to be filled in and returned.
6. Vision/Mission Statement Dr Quirk had brought this to the meeting to share with the committee and to ask for comments. The order (so far) of the surgery’s priorities is Excellence, Compassion, Caring and Respectful. This may change with more consideration. Adrian would welcome any thoughts on the topic from committee members.
7. Any Other Business It was agreed that the main flu jab mornings would be too crowded for the PPG to have a pop-up stall to help recruit more patients. However, Adrian is planning more sessions, either during the day or in the evenings. We asked Dr Quirk if the practice would again consider buying a pop-up banner to be displayed in the foyer, the design of which would need to be decided on in collaboration with the partners. Eyes Wide Digital had quoted £100 for a new one. The Friends’ banner could be brought along to the next meeting to illustrate what it could look like. It would have slots for an A5 poster as well as the name of the PPG, the NHS and Medwyn Surgery.
8. Dates of Next Meetings January 21st at 1.30 pm and May 19th at 6.00 pm.
